China rings in the Lunar New Year in a big way with the Spring Festival that ends with the Red Lantern Festival. Depending upon where you live celebrations can last anywhere from one week to 23 days.

Portland, Oregon

San Francisco Bay Area

San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade will be held in the evening on Saturday, February 23.(Free, hoewever bleacher tickets available for $35). Parade begins at 2nd & Market Streets, in SF.

Chinese New Year Community Street Fair: 120 booths and concessions filling SF Chinatown throughout the weekend, offering various food and entertainment. The community Fair Main stage will also feature acts that include Chinese folk dancing, opera and drumming. Sat & Sun Feb 23–24 (10 AM–4 PM) free. Chinese New Year 5K/10K Run winding through SF Chinatown, NOrth Beach and downtown–raising money to benefit youth and teen programs at the Chinatown YMCA Community Center, which serves more than 1,200 youth and their families.

Oakland Chinatown

Oakland Chinatown Lunar New Year Bazaar will be held on Saturday & Sunday, January 26 & 27 (10 AM–5 PM), between 9th & Franklin Streets & the Pacific Renaissance Plaza.

Los Angeles County

120th Golden Dragon Parade, sponsored by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angele, will occur on Saturday, Feb 9, at 1 PM.

Lunar New Year Festival in Monterey Park will be held on Saturday, January 26  (10 AM–9 PM) and Sunday, January 27 (10 AM-7 PM).

Orange County
